Kartik is the most superb time in Vrindavan. Every year when it comes it brings something new. This time the weather was dry and cool after the endless rains. The devotees enjoyed parikramas over the holy places.

Amrita from Moscow and his wife invited B.V. Madhava Maharaj for parikrama round Vrindavan and we started in a small group. On our way Maharaja turned to the house of one devotee who came to Vrindavan to leave his body. Usually, when the question is about devotees’ sickness or death, Maharaj is very anxious about them and there is a whole encyclopedia of different useful advises in his head, various methods of curing this or that disease. He advised to put the Tulsi tree so that her shade will fall on this devotee’s head. He told the story about one mataji who has cancer disease and Tulsi shade helped to lessen her pain.

tatraiva maranaanmuktih, sarvada daana durlabha

Where there is the shade of the Tulasi tree, which removes the pain of being, there is always liberation for the dying, difficult to obtain by gifts.

tulasee vitaparyanaam, grihe yasthaavatishtate

tadva griham theertha rupam hi na yaanti yama kinkarahah

The servants of Yamaraja do not go to the house where the Tulasi tree is situated and worshipped. Indeed, such a house is a form of a place of pilgrimage.

We came to Jamuna river and Maharaja started citing Yamuna-ashtaka. I was listening with pleasure and thought, “When at last there will be something else besides morning arati in my head that I will be able to express my honor to Yamuna so freely. Not far from Keshi Ghat we come to one baba by who is a very good aurvedic doctor. Baba was very glad to see Maharaja. You can see them together in this photo. They are in this very small room 1,5m x 1,5m which is fully filled with vials and paper bags with powders. The rest of the way we simply run as Maharaj walks very quickly.

rest for the noon’s gayatry we have met a wonderful cow. When servant of Maharaja Rama began stroking her she laied on her back raised her feet into the air. Have you ever seen something like this? When she got up she first licked Rama all over, then licked over Maharaja and me that we stood with our skin all red as the cow’s tongue is as rough as emery but we were fully happy from such expression of love.

After dinner Maharaja went to Srila Prabhupada’s quarters and sang bhajans with bengoli vaishnavas.

In several days He found out that there are lot of mistakes in Narotam Das‘s bhajans in English and Russian books of songs. Maharaja was upset but also he was happy that he has found them. We found different editions of “Prema Bhakti Chandrica” and “Prarthana” and compared them with Bengoli. Really there was a lot of mistakes.

There is some wonderful news. Now Maharaja will live in ISKCON goshala. Our temple gave him a room where the major repairs are being finished now. It is such a wonderful place! You can hear how they milk the cows in the morning and the bells on their necks ring. There are a lot of peacocks and other birds, hubbub around. Maharaj plans to build a temple for Tulsi in the garden and to grow flowers and noble trees there. I think it will the good opportunity for his future disciples who wants to live in Vrindavan to help him in it.
